Abstract

LOPEZ I, Ricardo  and  FERNANDEZ V, Roque. Producción del primer lote de conjugado antirrábico de origen caprino en el Perú. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 1997, vol.14, n.1, pp.43-44. ISSN 1726-4634.

The objective of the present study was the production and evaluation of the first batch of caprine anti-rabies conjugate produced in Peru. The anti-rabies globulin conjugated with fluorescein was prepared at the Rabies Reference Laboratory of the Centro Nacional de Laboratorios de Salud Pública of the Instituto Nacional de Salud (INS) and the vaccine employed for animal immunization was produced at the Rabies Laboratory of the Centro Nacional de Producción de Biológicos of the INS in Lima,Perú. A VERO tissue culture vaccine was used for the immunization with Freundt complete and incomplete adjuvants. The vaccination was performed weekly for four weeks, plus a live virus discharge on the fifth week and two additional boosters on the following two weeks. The conjugated produced in the laboratory had a (4+) in specific staining, (3+) in quality of inclusions and (1+) in non specific fluorescence. However, the commercial conjugate had less intensity of specific staining (3+), more quality of inclusions (4+), and less non specific staining (0+).

Keywords : Rabies; anti-rabies; conjugate.
