Abstract

MENDOZA R, Daniel et al. Eficacia y eficiencia del Programa de Control de Tuberculosis en Rioja, San Martín-Perú durante el periodo 1996 - 2000. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 2001, vol.18, n.1-2, pp.14-20. ISSN 1726-4634.

Objective: To determine the efficacy and efficiency of the National Control Program of Tuberculosis (PCT) in the Red de Servicios de Salud Rioja (RSSR), San Martin - Peru, during the period 1996-2000. Materials and methods: This is a longitudinal descriptive study. We utilized the registration and follow-up books of patients with the diagnosis of tuberculosis from the RSSR. Inclusion criteria: patients with diagnosis of tuberculosis who were registered in the PCT; Exclusion criteria: patients who had drug adverse reactions and changed the treatment, or patients with irregular treatment. Results: We included 355 patients. The efficacy was 99.7% and the efficiency 93.0%. The percent of desertion was 2.0%, the failure patients were 0.3%, the transference without confirmation (TSC) were 1.4%, and were 2.8% deads. We did not found any significative tendency during the period 1996-2000. At level of micronet, the least efficiency was at MR-5 and MR-3. Both places also had the highest percent of desertions. The higher percent of deads was at MR-5 and MR-6. We founded a high percent of desertions in patients that received the scheme III. The percent of deads was higher in patients who received scheme II. Conclusions: The efficacy and efficiency have high valors at RSSR, although we could identify some micronets and groups of patients that have high percents of deads, desertions and TSC, which should be rapidly corrected.
