Resumen

SACSAQUISPE C, Rosa; GLENNY A, Martha  y  CESPEDES Z, Manuel. Estudio preliminar de leptospirosis en roedores y canes en salitral, Piura-1999. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 2003, vol.20, n.1, pp.39-40. ISSN 1726-4634.

Objective: To determine serological and bacteriologically the presence of Leptospira in samples of serum and kidney from dogs and rodents, of the district of Salitral, department of Piura (North of Peru). Materials and methods: Study made in October 1999. Rodents were captured using tomahawk traps in the localities of Salitral and Malacasi. The test of microscopic agglutination (MAT) for the detection of antibodies and the culture of kidney tissue for the bacteriological study were used. Also, serum samples from dogs of the locality of the Salitral were assessed. Results: 2 of 12 rodents identified as Rattus rattus (16,6%) reacted with leptospira to serovar grypotyphosa to a title of 1/200 and 1/400, whereas one of the 3 collected serum samples of dog reacted with leptospira to serovar canicola. None of the 12 cultures of kidney tissue was positive to Leptospira. Conclusions: The detection of antibodies against Leptospira in the district of Salitral suggests to extend the studies of Leptospira in the area.
