Objective: To identify S. schenckii genotypes circulating in 2 districts from the Abancay province in Peru. Material and Methods: 17 strains from patients with lymphocutaneous and fixed cutaneous lesions using RAPD-PCR techniques (Randomized Amplified Polymorphic DNA-Polymerase Chain Reaction) with A GTG 5 primer (GTG GTG GTG GTG GTG). Results: We identified 6 genotypes, being genotype I the most frequent in the studied geographical areas. There was not any association with clinical and geographical characteristics. Conclusions: Our results prove that there is genetic biodiversity between circulating S. schenckii strains in the two districts assessed.
