YON F, Carmen et al. Susceptibilidad y resistencia de Triatoma infestans y Panstrongylus herreri a los insecticidas piretroides, Perú 2001. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 2004, vol.21, n.3, pp.179-182. ISSN 1726-4634.
Triatomines susceptibility levels to pyrethroid insecticides were assessed using the World Health Organization (WHO) technique, employing impregnated paper with a 0,1% concentration of the following active compounds: alphacypermethrin, betacyfluthrin, cyfluthrin, cypermethrin, and deltamethrin. Triatoma infestans and Panstrongylus herreri in nymph V and adult stages were used for the assessments. Mortality rates after 24-hour exposition to insecticide-impregnated paper were determined, and the majority of Triatoma species of the two species was susceptible to the insecticides tested. Only in some cases resistance was found amongst P. herreri nymph V stages from two locations in Jaén province, Cajamarca department, as well as in some T. infestans adult and nymph V stages captured in Vitor valley, Arequipa department.
