Resumen RODRIGUEZ-MORALES, Alfonso J. Ecoepidemiología y epidemiología satelital: nuevas herramientas en el manejo de problemas en salud pública. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica, Ene./mar. 2005, vol.22, no.1, p.54-63. ISSN 1726-4634. Recent advances in understanding the environment in which transmission of many infectious diseases that are important for public health occurs, particularly vector-transmitted diseases, allow us to generate a series of concepts and tools that are changing the approach for managing complex problems in public health. Thus, eco-epidemiology, and, most recently, satellite-based epidemiology, provide an array of options which translate themselves in a more integrated vision of diseases, and in new possibilities for preventing and controlling them. This review focuses in the evolutioning concepts related to these new areas of epidemiology and public health.
