Abstract

To describe the characteristics of emergency occurrences recorded by the police in a Lima Hospital in year 2001. Time, space, and personal information were recollected. The average number of persons registered was 20,22 on weekends, and 13,08 in ordinary week days. 1981 persons (44,66%) had an event in big avenues. 67,04% persons registered were male, and the most frequently affected age group was 25 to 49 years old (42,64%). In conclusion, emergency occurrences were more frequent on weekends and in holidays, involving big avenues, and young adult male subjects.
