Objectives: To determine fasciolasis seroprevalence in high school children and cattle in Huancavelica Province and to describe children’s perception of the disease. Materials and methods: The study was performed in different ecological niches and in places whose altitude was between 2000 and 5000 meters above sea level. A seroepidemiological survey in 842 high school children from randomly chosen public schools, an this instrument was also performed in 532 cattle randomly chosen belonging to high school children’s families. In both cases FAS2-ELISA test was performed. Data analysis was performed according to specific areas (urban or rural) using SPSS V. 11 software, considering p<0.05 as statistically significant.  Results: The tests were positive in 33 highschool children (2,6% in the urban areas and 4,9% in rural areas, p0.05), and in 123 cattle (23,1%). Izcuchaca and Palca districts had 10% seropositive high school children. There was no association between infection in high school children and animals. 45% of high school children reported having knowledge of the disease (28% in urban areas and 56,5% in rural areas, p<0.01); highschool children from the rural areas had more correct answers in the survey compared to those of children from urban areas. Knowledge about liver damage by fasciolasis was more frequent compared to knowledge about its transmission and prevention. Conclusions: Izcuchaca and Palca districts are hyperendemic for human fasciol asis in Huancavelica province. Because of the clinical importance of the aforementi oned disease, strong educational intervention is necessary with emphasis in prevention, particularly in urban areas.
