Abstract

NUNURA R, Juan; BENITES V, Carlos  and  SIHUINCHA M, Moisés. A case of hemorrhagic dengue fever in Iquitos. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 2005, vol.22, n.3, pp.229-232. ISSN 1726-4634.

A case of an adult patient diagnosed with dengue fever serotype 3, confirmed using reverse-transcription- polymerase chain reaction, which was admitted to Iquitos Hospital in April 2005. During hospitalization, this patient complied with all criteria for defining a hemorrhagic dengue fever case according to the World Health Organization. The patient did well with supportive therapy, and he was discharged uneventfully. The importance of a good clinical diagnosis, strict monitoring, and timely supportive therapy when managing these cases is emphasized.
