Abstract

GARCIA, Patricia J.. What’s in the horizon about human papilloma virus, vaccines and cervical cancer control. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 2007, vol.24, n.3, pp.272-279. ISSN 1726-4634.

This review provides an overview of genital infections caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) and related neoplasms, and information on growing expectations of vaccination as a means of prevention. Its explores how HPV vaccines have been developed and which aspects should be taken into consideration for implementation of an HPV vaccination program to prevent cervical cancer, such as costs, the target group (boys, girls or both, risk groups), age, considerations to take into account in the promotion of vaccination, what should we do with the cervical cancer screening programs, and what are the potential problems that could arrive in developing countries.
