Abstract

LEON, Blanca  and  ROQUE, José. Cuscutaceae endemic of Peru . Rev. peru biol. [online]. 2006, vol.13, n.2, pp.277-278. ISSN 1727-9933.

The Cuscutaceae are represented in Peru by 19 species in the genus Cuscuta (Brako & Zarucchi, 1993), all of them herbs. Here we recognize seven endemic species, in need of taxonomic revision and additional plant collection; therefore, we did not apply IUCN categories and criteria. These endemic taxa grow mainly in the Mesoandean region, below 3200 m elevation. Apparently, only one species of endemic Cuscutaceae has been recorded in Peru´s protected areas system.

Keywords : Cuscutaceae; Cuscuta; Peru; endemism; endemic plants.
