LEON, Blanca  and  MONSALVE, Christhian. Marcgraviaceae endemic of Peru. Rev. peru biol. [online]. 2006, vol.13, n.2, pp.426-427. ISSN 1727-9933.

The Marcgraviaceae are represented in Peru by five genera and 28 species (Brako & Zarucchi, 1993; Ulloa Ulloa et al., 2004), mostly lianas and shrubs. Here we recognize five endemic species in four genera. Endemic species are found in Humid Lowland Amazonian Forests, Very Humid Montane and Very Humid Premontane Forests regions, between 180 and 2600 m elevation. Two endemic species have been recorded in the Peruvian System of Protected Natural Areas.

Keywords : Marcgraviaceae; Peru; endemism; endemic plants.
