Abstract

GRANA-ARAMBURU, Alejandro. Philosophers who contributed the progress of medicine. Acta méd. peruana [online]. 2015, vol.32, n.1, pp.41-49. ISSN 1728-5917.

A review is intended of the different stages of philosophical thought and the philosophers that took part in it, that in our consideration influenced medicine in an important way. Starting with Greek classical age and considering the ideas of Saint Augustine, the romantic and empirical philosophers of the XVII and XVIII centuries, like Locke and Kant, are reviewed. Finally, a synthesis of the philosophical visions of the XX and XXI centuries is resumed, taking into consideration Kuhn´s paradigm and Scientific Realism, as exemplified by Mario Bunge.

Keywords : philosophers; medicine.
