Objective: To determine the frequency, collaboration networks, and the impact of Peruvian scientific publications on Nuclear Medicine between 1964 and 2015. Materials and methods: This is a descriptive and bibliometric study. A search of all Peruvian scientific publications and bibliometric indicators (journal, year, language, affiliation, number of cites) between 1964 and 2015 indexed in PubMed, SciELO, IAEA repository, Scholar Google and ALICIA was performed. Results: Fifty-eight publications were found, with an increasing number up to 2009. Acta Cancerologica and Informe Cientfico Tecnologico were the most frequent sources of publications. Ninety-five of the published reports were in Spanish and the average number of authors was five. Nearly two thirds of the papers were original articles. The most frequently described procedure was bone scan (20.7%), and in 75.9% of the papers, a nuclear medicine specialist was the main. Around one sixth (17.5%) of publications were cited at least once. There is a strong institutional cooperation between the Peruvian Institute for Nuclear Energy (IPEN) and Peruvian Cancer Institute (INEN). Conclusion: The evolution of Peruvian scientific publications in the field of Nuclear Medicine during the last 50 years still shows a limited profile in terms of number and impact, in spite of being a specialty currently developing, with the use of hybrid equipment such as PET/CT and SPECT/ CT in both public and private institutions during the last five years. We recommend strengthening the motivation forreporting and publishing papers in indexed journals, particularly for specific units and their in-training staff
