Abstract

ZEGARRA ROJAS, Oswaldo. A model for the licensing process for pregraduate medical programs in Peru. Acta méd. Peru [online]. 2019, vol.36, n.4, pp.301-308. ISSN 1728-5917.

The Current University Bill N° 30220 created the University Education Superintendence (SUNEDU, according to its Spanish initials), and its established functions include approving or denying licensing requests for universities or other educational programs. After progressing in institutional licensing for universities, now SUNEDU is starting to implement the licensing process for pregraduate medical schools. This is a priority, since it is considered as highly necessary for the Peruvian population to make sure that medical schools adequately comply with basic quality conditions. After a prolonged process in which the model was reviewed with the participation of academic institutions, medical schools and medical societies, we approved a model for licensing pregraduate medical programs in Peru, and we present this model in this paper.
