RUIZ MARTINEZ, Ana Olivia; HERNANDEZ CERA, Marcela Ivonne; MAYREN AREVALO, Pedro Joaquín de Jesús  y  VARGAS SANTILLAN, Ma. De Lourdes. Family functioning of consumers of addictive sustances with and without criminal behavior. liber. [online]. 2014, vol.20, n.1, pp.109-117. ISSN 1729-4827.

The objective of this study is to compare the family functioning of consumers of addictive substances that commit crimes with respect to consumers who do not commit crimes and a control group that is not a consumer or a delinquent. We studied a sample of 150 young people distributed in three comparison groups who answered the Family Environment Scale (FES) resulting significant differences between the Group of consumers who commit crimes and the control group with regard to the cohesion and family conflict. Also, intellectual-cultural activities appear relegated in both groups of consumers relative to the control group. It is suggested to investigate other factors as personality, self-esteem, family violence, emotional abuse and consider the socio-cultural constraints that currently surround the consumers and their families.

Palabras clave : Addiction; delinquency; family functioning.
