Resumen

DIAS, Jorge; CONDE, Rita; FORMIGA, Nilton  y  ABRUNHOSA GONCALVES, Rui. International self-report delinquency (ISRD3): translation and adaptation to the cabo verdiano context. liber. [online]. 2014, vol.20, n.2, pp.335-351. ISSN 1729-4827.

The International Self-Report Delinquency (ISRD) has become increasingly used among researchers to study the prevalence and incidence of crime and juvenile crime at the international level. In Cape Verde studies about juvenile delinquency are scarce, there are no empirically validated instruments that enable us to verify and characterize the phenomenon. The present study has as its objective the translation, adaptation and validation of the ISRD-3 to the Cape-Verdian context. Described are the procedures adopted for the translation and adaptation of the instrument, as well as the procedures of capture and data analysis. The sample was composed of 560 students of both sexes, between the ages of 13 and 21, in secondary schools (both public and private) for Cape Verde. It was resorted to Cronbach’s alpha for estimating the reliability of the instrument. The result of 0.881 was found which claims to be an indicator of good internal consistency of the scale. From the results it was concluded that the validity of the ISRD-3 adapted to the context out-plan. Specifically, it is an instrument with a degree of sensitivity and precision, conditions that guarantee the validity of the instrument.

Palabras clave : Juvenile delinquency; self-report; adaptation; validation; cultural specificity.
