Abstract

PASTOR DE ABRAM, Ana  and  ZELADA MARILUZ, Bertha Ruth. Estudio fitoquímico de Flaveria bidentis (L.) Kuntze (Asteraceae). Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2006, vol.72, n.1, pp.3-11. ISSN 1810-634X.

Ethnobotanical reports indicate that Flaveria bidentis "matagusano" is a plant used in antiparasitic and bronchial diseases, mainly in the children of the countryside from Supe Pueblo (Barranca - Lima), where the plant material was collected for the present study. The phytochemical screening of the capitulescences, stems, leaves and roots parts of Flaveria bidentis permitted to detect: tannins, flavonoids, leucoanthocyanidins, steroids and triterpenoids. Making use of techniques such as column chromatography and thin layer chromatography, two compounds were isolated: 1-methyl-3-(methylthio)-benzene (capitulescences) and the 3-methylbencil mercaptan (Ieaves). Also the biological assays showed that both compounds had nematicidal activity after72 hours against larvae (J2) of Meloidogyne incognita.

Keywords : Flaveria bidentis; Meloidogyne incognita; nematicide; mercaptanes; phytochemistry; bioassay.
