HERMOZA GUERRA, Emilia; SUN KOU, Rosario; E. MIRO, Eduardo  e  GUTIERREZ, Laura B.. Metal-no interaction influence over the activity X of pillared clays supported Co, Cu and Pd catalysts in the SCR of NO X with ethylene . Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2007, vol.73, n.1, pp.18-29. ISSN 1810-634X.

The nitrogen oxides (NOx) are contaminants generated by human activity in higher levels x than the ones the natural cycle can eliminate. The increasing use of Camisea natural gas in power engines and industrial processes of combustion justify the study and development of proper technologies for the NOx abatement in our country. Nowadays, one of these x technologies which is intensively studied is the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) with some hydrocarbon used as a reductant. The zeolitic materials have given promissory results, however, least expensive materials as the pillared interlayered clays (PILCs) would be desirable. This study shows the relationship between the metal-NOx interaction with the catalytic activity in the SCR of NOx with ethylene. Zr-PILC and Ti-PILC supported Co, Cu and Pd catalysts were investigated by temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) of NO and NO2 technique. The metallic species 2 were identified with the temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) technique. The catalytic activity was evaluated in a quartz tubular reactor with controlled temperature in the following conditions: NO, 1000 ppm; C2 H4, 1000 ppm; O2, 2 %; catalysts weight 0,350 g; GHSV=6500 h-1. The gases were analyzed by means of FT-IR spectroscopy. It was found that moderated metal-NO interaction was related to more active catalysts.
