Abstract

RAMOS, Carlos et al. Formation and characterization of ZnO nanocolumns in aqueous solution. Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2008, vol.74, n.4, pp.282-290. ISSN 1810-634X.

Zinc oxide nanocolumns were prepared onto a conductive transparent layer of SnO2:F coated glass. Spray pyrolysis was first used to grow a uniform zinc oxide films on the substrate to serve as seed layer for the growth of nanocolumns. On this layer was obtained an oriented arrangement of ZnO nanocolumns using a solution growth process using zinc nitrate and sodium hydroxide. Some parameters were varied in the films prepared by spray pyrolisis such as pH of precursor solutions and thickness in order to study the influence in the growth of nanocolumns. X-ray Diffraction (XDR) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) confirmed the crystalline nature of ZnO nanocolumns, and Scanning Electron Microscopy showed the arrangement of nanocolumns on the surface. Finally, measurement of quantum efficiency (IPCE) was made, this result shows a good performance for the nanocolumns and it make them suitable for other applications.

Keywords : Nanocolumns; spray pyrolisis; IPCE.
