Abstract

ZANABRIA, César et al. In situ analysis of limestone open cut mine using prompt gamma neutron analysis activation. Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2008, vol.74, n.4, pp.332-342. ISSN 1810-634X.

In situ characterization of the blast holes has been done in Atocongo and Pucara open cut mines from Cementos Lima S.A. using prompt gamma neutron activation analysis (PGNAA). This method collects information about the ore surrounding the bore hole and gives a real time and representative results for a geophysical model of the mine. The PGNAAsystem gives an in situ estimation of SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, CaO y SO3. The field trials have been proved that the system could be used to characterize the limestone open cut mines.

Keywords : lime stone; PGNAA; neutrons; gamma ray.
