Abstract

TORRES-ISLAS, A.; GARCIA DE LEON, E.; SERNA, S.  and  ROSAS, G.. EIS and LPR corrosion studies applied to FeAl powders in an aqueous suspension. Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2009, vol.75, n.2, pp.185-193. ISSN 1810-634X.

In this work, the corrosion behavior of FeAl powders on aqueous suspension using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and linear polarization resistance (LPR) techniques have been investigated. For this propose, a non-stoichiometric intermetallic compound (FeAl60) were produced by mechanical alloying starting from Fe (99.99%) and Al (99.99%) elemental powders. The obtained powders were chemically and structurally analyzed, before and after corrosion tests, using transmission electron microscopy. Different pH aqueous solutions in which FeAl particles are in suspension were used. The influence of varying the solution temperature is also reported. EIS and LPR data were analyzed as indicators for monitoring the icorr of Fe Al particles. The icorr behavior is directly related with the pH and the temperature of the aqueous suspension.
