Abstract

HORMAZA, Angelina  and  SUAREZ GARCIA, Edgar. Comparative study of biosorption process of two structuraly different dyes on poultry wastes. Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2009, vol.75, n.3, pp.329-338. ISSN 1810-634X.

Experimental results of studies carried out on sorption of two aqueous-solution dyes brilliant blue (AB) and methylene blue (AM) by poultry wastes [chicken feathers (P) and eggshells (H)] is presented. It was found that chicken feather exhibit a high biosorption capacity for Brilliant Blue (almost complete removal) while eggshell only shown an intermediate-level capacity for Methylene Blue removal (near 60% removal). The effect of main process parameters like pH, sorbent dosage and initial dye concentration on removal efficiency was evaluated. Furthermore, equilibrium process analysis was done for two solute-sorbent selected pair.

Keywords : dye; sorption isotherm; chicken feather; eggshells.
