F. REYES, Úrsula; E. NAVARRO, Abel  e  P. LLANOS, Bertha. Use of seaweeds for biosorptio of cupric ions in aqueous solutions. Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2009, vol.75, n.3, pp.353-361. ISSN 1810-634X.

The use of marine seaweeds is proposed for the elimination of cupric ions from aqueous solutions. The alga (S12) is more effective than (L13). The process was optimized for both algae at room temperature, starting with 20 mg of the adsorbent, an initial concentration of 100 mg.L ; an initial pH of 6 and a minimal ionic strength. The equilibrium was reached in less than 5 minutes after the initiation of the process with a q de 127,71 mg.g y 145,56 mg.g for L13 y S12, respectively. The process was followed the models of Langmuir and Freundlich. The adsorption of Cu (II) was also adjusted to the model of Dubinin-Radushkevich at high initial concentrations of the metal, suggesting a mechanism by chemical adsorption.
