Abstract

ABALOS, Tatiana; PARDO, Teresa; MARTINEZ-MANEZ, Ramón  and  SANCENON, Félix. Synthesis and characterization of new receiving cromogenics functionaliced with coloring azoics containing thiazole rings. Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2009, vol.75, n.4, pp.401-413. ISSN 1810-634X.

Supramolecular chemistry concepts has been applied to the development of novel chromogenic sensors for the selective detection of ionic and neutral species has been grown in interest in the last years. In this work we presented the synthesis and characterization of a new family of azoic dyes based on thiazole heterocyclic ring and functionalized with macrocycles of different sizes and shapes. Also, the coordination behaviour of this family of chromogenic receptors in the presence of transition metal cations (Cd2+, Cu2+, Hg2+, Fe3+, Ni2+, Pb2+ and Zn2+) was studied in acetonitrile solutions. Acetonitrile solutions of this family of receptors presented a blue colouration due to the existence of a charge-transfer band centered at 580 nm. Selective coordination of certain transition metal cations with the macrocyclic subunits induced remarkable shifts of the charge-transfer band. Receptors L4 and L5 presented the more selective behaviour because only the presence of Pb2+ (with L4) and Hg2+ (with L5) induced selective and significant hypsochromic shifts of the visible band. Both hypsochromic shifts indicated a preferential coordination with the aniline nitrogen embedded in the macrocyclic subunit.

Keywords : receptor chromogenic; azo dyes; thiazole.
