Abstract

LAVADO MEZA, Carmencita; SUN KOU, Maria del Rosario  and  BENDEZU, Salvador. Adsorption of lead from industrial wastewater using activated carbons with H3PO4. Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2010, vol.76, n.2, pp.165-178. ISSN 1810-634X.

Activated carbons were prepared from chips of Labill, as by chemical activation using phosphoric acid activating agent. The influence of activation parameters was studied on the adsorption of lead: impregnation ratio (activating agent (g)/precursor (g)) and activation temperature. The materials obtained were characterized by N2 adsorption at -196 °C, SEM and FTIR. The parameters affecting the adsorption process of lead was studied: contact time, ratio mass carbon/volume of solution, temperature and pH, obtained adsorption capacities of up to 142,1mgPb / g.Achieved 99,9% removal of lead on industrial effluent.

Keywords : adsorption; activated carbon; chemical activation with H3PO4; lead; water treatment.
