Abstract

RODRIGUEZ HAMAMURA, Nadia; VALDERRAMA NEGRON, Ana; ALARCON CAVERO, Hugo  and  LOPEZ MILLA, Alcides. Preparation of chitosan particles cross-linked with tripolyphosphate and modified with polyethylene glycol. Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2010, vol.76, n.4, pp.336-354. ISSN 1810-634X.

Chitosan(CS) particles were prepared to nanoescale for further studies of loaded and released drugs. The chitosan was characterized by viscosimetry to obtain the molar mass. Titration conductivity and FTIR were performed in able to determine the percentage of deacetylation. Ionic gelation was the method used for the preparation of CS particles cross-linked with tripolyphosphate (TPP) anions and modified with polyethylene glycol (PEG) to obtain size in a range of 100 to 400nm. Characterization of CS-TPP particles modified with PEG was performed using DLS, TEM and FTIR techniques. The factors that influence the stability of the CS particles, as the effect of time, ionic strength and pH were also studied.

Keywords : Chitosan; ionic gelation; nanoparticles.
