Abstract

MALDONADO GARCIA, Holger J. et al. Steroidal sapogenins study of peruvian species of the genus dioscorea. Rev. Soc. Quím. Perú [online]. 2012, vol.78, n.3, pp.208-218. ISSN 1810-634X.

The peruvian species of genus dioscorea may be used as a source of sapogenins from which the steroid hormones are synthesized. The fresh rhizonce used coming from samples croped from different places of San Martin, Loreto, Ucayali and Cuzco regions. They were put in liquefaction process and acid hydrolysis, and starting from that is obtained and insoluble residue; which is subjected to extraction with petroleum ether at 60 -70ºC getting finally white crystales. After that they were separated and purified by fine layer cromatographic and in silice gel column. The percentage of sapogenins was not greater then 2% and in according of its physicochemical propierties and IR, 1H-NMR and mass spectra on deduced that the obtained compound is a diosgenin.

Keywords : Dioscorea; sapogenins; diosgenin; cromatography; espectra.
