Abstract

MARQUEZ, Ismael P. El armonioso imaginario andino de Edgardo Rivera Martínez. Letras [online]. 2015, vol.86, n.124, pp.203-211. ISSN 2071-5072.

The literary work of Edgardo Rivera Martínez dovetails with that of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega in an intertextual exercise that goes beyond a simple case of influence. In fact, there is a narrow relationship between the two of them. Critics coincide in pointing out that Rivera Martínez’s writing happens in the confluence of two watersheds: the Western and the Andean in a process of mestizaje unprecedented because of its optimism. But just as with Garcilaso’s writings, the works of Rivera Martínez exhibit the harmony of form and ideas of Classicism, the idealization of nature, and the exaltation of Humanism found in the Renaissance. It is the lyrical celebration of the Andean world the attitude that informs the imaginary of our author, an attitude that encompasses multiple cultural characteristics

Keywords : José María Arguedas; Indigenism; Classicism; Utopia; Mestizaje.
