Abstract

AREVALO H, Lis. Diario de Santa María: la vocación literaria como mecanismo liberador y de resistencia contra el autoritarismo. Letras [online]. 2015, vol.86, n.124, pp.247-255. ISSN 2071-5072.

This article examines in Diario de Santa María (2008) the presence of a recurrent topic in Edgardo Rivera Martinez’s discursive production: literary vocation as a mechanism of rejection of authoritarianism and the impositions of the established order. In the above mentioned novel, the two main characters, Felicia and Solange, face the repressive power of feminine education of their time and they aspire to different life projects than those offered by the sex/gender system of their environment thanks to their artistic vocation

Keywords : Rivera Martinez; Diario de Santa Maria; School; Authoritarianism; Artistic vocation; Literary vocation.
