Abstract
BARAHONA, Planck. Inequity in the distribution of income and in Chile Kuznets Curve year 1999-2010 - Chile. Comuni@cción [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.2, pp.27-37. ISSN 2219-7168.
This paper has two objectives. The first is to determine the factors associated with the unequal distribution of income in Chile. Second, validate the hypothesis "U" Kuznets (1955).We used data of aggregated nature for the period between 1999 and 2010. We used as the endogenous variable: The Gini Coefficient; and as exogenous variables: the GDP per capita, the inflation rate, the unemployment rate and the social expenditure. Due to the nature of the data, we used the multiple regression model for the analysis of unequal distribution of income. After the analysis, on one hand, the results have shown that the variables GDP per capita and the unemployment rate have a negative impact on income distribution. On the other, that the social expenditure variable does not improve the distribution. There is no evidence for the existence of the hypothesis Kuznets inverted
