Abstract

The performance of any professional role requires knowing and mastering along with conceptual skills, a set of social skills that allow the professional to create an effective and satisfactory relationship with others; Good interpersonal communication is necessary for a good human relations competition. The present study aimed to determine the correlation between social skills and interpersonal communication of the students of the Universidad Nacional del Altiplano of Puno, 2015. For this purpose, the quantitative method and the survey technique, applied to a Sample of 606 students out of a total of 18 531, all enrolled in the Academic Year 2015, Semester II, in the three academic areas: Engineering, Biomedical and Social. The results show that there is a correlation between the two study variables, the outstanding categories being: polite and kind to others, cooperation and sharing with friends, development of a network of friends and colleagues, interest in their sincerity and honesty Convey their ideas. In this way, students are said to have social skills and use interpersonal communication appropriately.
