Abstract
TANTALEAN TERRONES, Lizley Janne and CALLOHUANCA ACEITUNO, Jimmy Oscar. Evaluation of an assertive communication program in municipal security agents in Lima - Peru. Comuni@cción [online]. 2022, vol.13, n.4, pp.282-290. Epub Dec 31, 2022. ISSN 2219-7168. http://dx.doi.org/10.33595/2226-1478.13.4.761.
Communication benefits the interaction of the individual, strengthens the basic microsystems of socialization, allows community representativeness and institutionality; even more so, if an assertive style is fostered that facilitates resistance to the demands of the personal and social environment of human groups. In this context, the effectiveness of an assertive communication program was evaluated in 36 municipal security agents from 18 to 61 years old: under the pre-experimental one-group design, and pre- and post-intervention measurement with a 27-item version of the Rathus Assertiveness Inventory (1973). The results indicate a significant increase in the assertiveness of the participants (Student's t -3.320, and p= .002); with similar effects regarding marital status, the range of 40 years and over, higher education, and the presence of children; also, the participants reported satisfaction with the intervention. The effectiveness of the program in the assertive communication of a human group immersed in a work activity that requires high capacity for socio-affective coping is concluded, and it determines their predisposition for the acquisition of the variable, according to their sociodemographic conditions.
