Despite linguistic diversity being a unique and enriching characteristic of Peru, the situation of native languages and dialectal varieties remains in a state of neglect within the country. Thus, this study aims to identify patterns and trends in the search for information on indigenous, foreign, and dialectal languages in Peru, in order to contribute to the understanding of the perception and appreciation of linguistic diversity in Peruvian society. To this end, a mixed-methods and non-experimental phenomenological design is employed, using Google Trends to analyze and compare search volumes longitudinally. Results reveal that interest in linguistic diversity in Peru varies by region and language, with Quechua being the most searched indigenous language. Additionally, bilingual education is the most popular concept, followed by linguistic discrimination. However, attraction to languages through search queries does not necessarily correspond with an interest in learning them. Therefore, further research is recommended to explore underlying motivations for language interest, as well as possible correlations with socio-economic contexts and international events.
