Abstract

CHUNGA PINGO, Gaby Esther et al. Exploring university social responsibility in higher education: a systematic review 2019-2023. Comuni@cción [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.4, pp.360-372.  Epub Dec 26, 2023. ISSN 2219-7168.  http://dx.doi.org/10.33595/2226-1478.14.4.900.

University Social Responsibility (RSU) enables institutions of higher education to take an ethical commitment and actively contribute to the sustainable development of society through principles that promote inclusion, equity, citizen training, etc. The aim of this research is to analyze the existing literature on university social responsibility during the period 2019-2023. From this perspective, the PRISMA method of systematic review was used, with 30 studies being selected, which allowed the synthesis of evidence in academic literature. The inclusion criteria focused on studies published in the English language, which addressed the development of the RSU. Studies that did not focus on higher education and social responsibility as primary objectives were also excluded. The search was carried out in three academic databases: ERIC, Scopus and SciELO. The results of the systematic review allowed to identify patterns and trends derived from the development of RSU in the educational field. It is concluded that university social responsibility encourages the educational improvement of students, strengthens the link between the university and the community, improves the profile, reputation and prestige of university institutions; in this way it contributes to the advancement of research based on the systematization of available scientific evidence.
