Abstract

REYES MANRIQUE, Marlene Edith. Relationship between Teacher’s Social Skills and Teaching Performance from the Point of View of Adult Students at a private university in Lima, Peru. Rev. Digit. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relation between social skills (SS) and teaching performance (TP) based on the perception of university students. Two 25-item Likert scales were prepared, with four dimensions validated through the judgment of experts. The sample was of 100 students of a private university in the city of Lima of ages between 21 and 46 years. The dimensions of the SS are: assertive communication, leadership, conflict resolution and planning. The dimensions of the TP are: teaching ability, emotionality, responsibility adult in the performance of their functions and interpersonal relationships. The Cronbach’s alpha of students, dimensions the results reaches acceptable levels of .97 for SS and .95 for TP. The correlation between both constructs was carried out by applying the Spearman’s rho correlation coefficient, reaching a rs of .74 for the interscale correlation that indicates a linear, positive, and moderately strong correlation, as well as correlations greater than .80 between TP and the dimensions of the SS. The implications of the results found are discussed.
