Abstract

MARTINEZ GALIANO, Juan Miguel  and  GALVEZ TORO, Alberto. Perinatal outcomes after a maintained umbilical cord prolapse. Rev. peru. ginecol. obstet. [online]. 2014, vol.60, n.1, pp.75-78. ISSN 2304-5132.

Cord prolapse is an uncommon phenomenon that compromises fetal well-being when intervention is not prompt and competent. Professional training and prenatal counseling affect results. A rare case of umbilical cord prolapse occurring at a patient’s home is presented, 15 cm of cord protruding out the vagina, with no compression, normal cardiotocography, and live and healthy newborn.

Keywords : Umbilical cord prolapse; obstetrical urgency; perinatal outcomes.
