Abstract

JAMES, Carlos; AGUILAR, Aldo  and  GARAYCOCHEA, Octavio. Placental acretism in a woman without prior uterine surgery. Rev. peru. ginecol. obstet. [online]. 2015, vol.61, n.2, pp.157-162. ISSN 2304-5132.

The placenta abnormally adherent to the uterine muscle is a condition known as placental acretism. This pathology increases maternal morbidity and mortality. The insertion of chorionic villi directly into the myometrium occurs more often in women who had surgical anatomic modification of the myometrium, like a cesarean section or myomectomy. Although conservative treatment has been described, the recommended management is hysterectomy. A case of placental acretism in a 22 year-old female without risk factors or prior uterine surgery is presented.

Keywords : Placental acretism.
