Abstract

VERTIZ-OSORES, Jacinto Joaquín et al. Teacher discomfort: Reflections on the Low Academic Performance of University Students. Propós. represent. [online]. 2019, vol.7, n.3, pp.273-286. ISSN 2307-7999.  http://dx.doi.org/10.20511/pyr2019.v7n3.387.

The research reflexively examined within the causes of teacher discomfort linked to the negative results of student performance from their own experience. It was carried out under a qualitative approach with multiple case study design using in-depth interviews with 10 university teachers. The results were disaggregated into categories: predominance of contradictory feelings; inability to endure anxiety. Inhibition; depreciation of the self, anxiety as a dominant feature and equilibrium: acceptance of conflict as objective reality. It was concluded that the interviewees agreed on a contradiction between the higher education system to promote quality and the real provision of tools and conditions to do so in practice. Manifesting positions of lethargy conditioned by the need of work for its provision of resources, but with the awareness of the relevance of its social role as educator of a generation of students that require methodologies that challenge and encourage creativity in the context of education digital.
