PERALDO-RAMOS, Anita; RAMOS ALVAREZ, Nain; TERAN-CASTANEDA, Adrián  e  UCHUYA- LOPEZ, Juan. Numeric simulation study of a textile processing plant for residual energy recovery. Tecnia [online]. 2022, vol.32, n.1, pp.53-62.  Epub 30-Jun-2022. ISSN 0375-7765.  http://dx.doi.org/110.21754/tecnia.v32i2.1343.

Nowadays, textile processing plants require control of the conditions associated with the spinning process, being the air conditioning system of the work environments an important factor in the quality and productivity of these processes. The optimization of the air conditioning system of this type of plants helps in the reduction of energy consumption, therefore, contributes to the improvement of the products and generates rentability of the operation processes of these plants. An interesting strategy for the improvement of the air conditioning system is to recover the energy generated at the outlet of the ventilation ducts, "residual energy", but this hypothesis in some cases is only speculative, being necessary a detailed study. To verify this energy improvement, a methodology is developed by means of numerical simulation that considers the use of residual energy, which feeds the spinning plant decreasing the temperatures of the over-roof of these plants. The methodology considers a multiphysical behavior (thermo-fluids) for the air conditioning system, that is, it incorporates a turbulence model 𝑘-𝜀 to represent the flow in the ventilation ducts and considers the heat transfer process generated by the equipment operating in this textile plant. Furthermore, for the discretization of the domain is considered refinements with different element sizes and polyhedral elements. In addition, to verify this methodology, a conventional spinning plant is analyzed, considering in the numerical model a characteristic section consisting of the general layout of the plant, i.e., equipment, ventilation system and over-roof dimensions. To prove the results of this methodology, the temperature fields and current flow lines for the characteristic section are obtained to verify the utilization of residual energy in textile processing plants.
