This study has the goal of generating indicators to properly assess the feasibility of an underfloor heating system installed in a small-scale module built with nonconventional materials for higher education purposes. Therefore, the following questions were answered: Is it possible to emulate the normal operation of an underfloor heating system in a short period of time (less than 2 hours) due to the high thermal inertia of this heating system and the limited amount of time available at higher education laboratories? Will the use of nonconventional building materials (in addition to the small size of the system) affect the performance of the heating system relative to those actually built on a real scale? Accordingly, a small-scale underfloor heating system module was developed and built for the thermo-fluids laboratory of the Universidad Católica de Santa María (Arequipa-Perú). Thereby, parameters such as the temperature of supply water, floor (fine sand was used to emulate the layer of cement) and the inner temperature of the test chamber were monitored, as well as the time elapsed. It was observed that an increment of 5°C roughly, was attained in 1 hour of operation in the inner temperature of the test chamber (from 20°C initially to 25 °C). For data acquisition a user interface was developed in a computer, also using microcontroller Atmega328p.
