Browallia mionei S. Leiva & Tantalean (Solanaceae), a new species from northern Peru, is described and illustrated in detail. Browallia mionei is found at the side of Moro-Pamparomas road km 49½-54, Pamparomas District, province of Huaylas, region of Ancash, Peru, at 9º05´22.0-9º05´29.7" S and 78º04´19.8-78º05´02.3" W, between 1279-1377 m of altitude. It is characterized mainly by its flowers arranged in racemes, the indument of its floral organs, style included, corolla yellow externally and color cream internally, 22-28 mm (between the larger lobe and the two inferior lobes) and 20-22 mm (between the two lateral lobes) of limb diameter at anthesis, capsule obconical erect, surrounded by a covering of rigid transparent eglandular hairs in the distal half, 6-6.3 mm long and 3.5-4 mm of diameter. We include data of geographic distribution, ecology, phenology, current status and relations with other similar species
