Deprea micrantha (Solanaceae), a new species from Ecuador, is described and illustrated in detail. Deprea micrantha Barboza & S. Leiva is found in San Francisco Biological Reserve, km 274½ between El Tambo and Sabanilla (Zamora-Loja route), province of Zamora Chinchipe, Ecuador, between 1874-1922 m of elevation. We include data concerning its relation with other similar species, geographic distribution, ecology, phenology, current status, common name and uses of the species
