Abstract

LUJAN DOMINGUEZ, María Elena et al. Development of a gel of Vaccinium corymbosum L. (Ericaceae) fruits with regenerative activity of dermal tissue. Arnaldoa [online]. 2018, vol.25, n.2, pp.529-538. ISSN 1815-8242.  http://dx.doi.org/http://doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.252.25212.

The purpose of the study was to develop a gel of fruit of Vaccinium corymbosum L. (Ericaceae) with regenerative activity of dermal tissue. The gel formulation began with the preparation of the concentrate, which was made from a mixture of ethanol and citric acid at 1%, raw material/solvent ratio 1:3 kg/kg, temperature 36 ± 1 °C, extraction time 2 hours, and then concentrated in rotary evaporator. Subsequently, excipients widely used for this pharmaceutical form were added to the concentrate of Vaccinium corymbosum 10%. The contrast design was carried out with 24 Lewis albino strain male rats distributed in three contrast groups: control, gel of Vaccinium corymbosum 10% concentrate (problem) and Cicatricure® (standard). The results evaluated the evolution of healing in the injured area from 0 to 21 days (macroscopic level), and in the histological study of cicatrization (microscopic level). It is concluded that the gel of the concentrate of Vaccinium corymbosum 10% presented better regenerative capacity of dermal tissue after 7 days of treatment, and increased the promotion of the processes of epithelization, neovascularization, and proliferation of fibroblasts and collagen.

Keywords : Vaccinium corymbosum L; gel; regeneration; dermal tissue.
