Abstract

We describe and illustrate in detail Browallia tingo-mariae S. Leiva which inhabits the left banks of the Huallaga River (at 200 m of the bridge toward Bella Durmiente), city of Tingo Maria, province of Leoncio Prado, Huanuco Region, Peru, at 9º15´19.6" S and 76º00´29.7" W, 683 m of altitude. It is characterized mainly by its flowers arranged in racemes, the indument of its vegetative and floral organs, style included, corolla light purple externally, greenish internally, 14-14.2 mm (between the larger lobe and the two inferior lobes) and 14-14.2 mm (between the two lateral lobes) of limb diameter at anthesis, capsule obconical erect, surrounded by a covering of rigid transparent glandu- lar hairs in the distal half, 7-7.2 mm long and 5-5.2 mm of diameter, seeds 196-198 per capsule. We include data of geographic distribution, ecology, phenology, current status and relations with other similar species. We present photographs and drawings of the species, whose credits are owned by the autor of this paper
