Resumen

AQUINO, Willy et al. Floristic composition of Huarochiri District, Huarochiri Province (Lima, Peru). Arnaldoa [online]. 2018, vol.25, n.3, pp.877-922. ISSN 1815-8242.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.253.25305.

The Peruvian Andes, besides having several zones without botanical information, have ecosystems with high levels of floristic diversity. Thus, we studied the floristic composition of the Huarochirí District, Huarochirí Province (Lima), located on the western slopes of the central Andes of Peru. Botanical collections were carried out during wet and dry seasons between years 2016 and 2018; different types of vegetation were distinguished; endemicity and threat degree were determined for the registered species. The total flora was composed by 504 species, grouped in 296 genera and 84 families; the most diverse families were Asteraceae (108 species), Poaceae (47), Fabaceae (24) and Solanaceae (20). Dominant life forms were herbs with 78 % and shrubs with 18 %. Six types of vegetation were differentiated: medium level shrubland which hosted 45 % of the total flora; higher level shrubland (50 %); high-Andean scrubland in association with rock slopes (35 %); stand of Puya raimondii (34 %); forest of Polylepis incana (21 %) and high-Andean wetland (14 %). 65 endemic species were registered for Peru, furthermore 28 species are categorized by Peruvian legislation and 18 by international legislation. The results manifest high species diversity, endemisms and endangered species, likewise diverse ecosystems of importance for conservation
