Abstract

RUIZ REYES, Segundo G; VENEGAS CASANOVA, Edmundo A; VALDIVIEZO CAMPOS, Juan E  and  PLASENCIA CUBA, Jorge L. Content of total phenols and in vitro antioxidant capacity of the juice of "pur pur" Passiflora tripartita var. mollissima (Passifloraceae) . Arnaldoa [online]. 2018, vol.25, n.3, pp.1003-1014. ISSN 1815-8242.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.253.25312.

The objective of the study was to determine the content of total phenols and the antioxidant capacity of the juice of "pur pur" Passiflora tripartita var. mollissima (Passifloraceae). The total phenols were obtained by extraction under reflux with ethanol of 50° GL, the quantification was performed by the Folin Cicalteau method and the in vitro antioxidant capacity was determined by the DPPH method by UV-visible spectrophotometry. The results reported a content of total phenols of 17.23 ± 0.07 g tannic ac./100 g dry extract and the antioxidant capacity with an IC50 value is 10.53 ug/uL in DPPH assay of fruit juice of "pur pur" Passiflora tripartita var mollissima (Passifloraceae).

Keywords : Passiflora tripartita var. mollissima; total phenols; antioxidant capacity.
