DIAZ A, Alison et al. Anatomy and physical properties of the wood of two species from the department of Puno. Arnaldoa [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.2, pp.595-606. ISSN 1815-8242. http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.262.26205.
The present research study described the anatomical characteristics and physical properties of two timber species from San Gabán, department of Puno. The macroscopic and microscopic characters were described according to the standard list of the IAWA (1989), and the physical properties according to Peruvian Technical Standards. The results show both species with diffuse porosity, Miconia amazonica with medium pores, vessel length 365 μm, simple perforation plate, parenchyma in bands, heterogeneous rays, height 120 μm. Erithrina ulei with straight grain, medium texture and medium gloss, veined overlapping arches, with sapwood susceptible to fungal attack, diameter of pores 246.2 μm and vessel length 253.5 μm, 2-4 pores/mm2, simple perforation plate, confluent paratracheal parenchyma, stratified, heterogeneous and homogeneous rays, both have libriform fibers, length 1747 μm, 770 μm, and wall thickness 3.3 μm, 3 μm, respectively. Miconia amazonica, basic density and volumetric contraction medium (0.57 g/cm3 and 12.73 % respectively), while Erythrina ulei, very low density (0.29 g/cm3), low volumetric contraction (8.12 %) and both species have very stable wood.
