Evapotranspiration and water requirements for crop irrigation scheduling of Saccharum officinarum L.(Poaceae) "sugar cane", Zea mays L. (Poaceae) "corn" and Asparagus officinalis L. (Asparagaceae) "asparagus" in Chicama valley, Peru. Arnaldoa [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.2, pp.793-814. ISSN 1815-8242. http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.262.26218.
This study was to assess evapotranspiration and water requirements for crop irrigation scheduling of Saccharum officinarum L. (Poaceae) "sugar cane", Zea mays L. (Poaceae) "corn" and Asparagus officinalis L. (Asparagaceae) "asparagus" in the Chicama Valley, Peru, considering the irrigation commissions of Ascope, Paiján, La Pampa, Magdalena de Cao and Yalpa, Santiago de Cao and Sausal. Water consumption for agricultural use was 577 534 295.64 m3 employed in irrigation of 648 253.22 ha in the Chicama Valley. The water requirements and crop irrigation scheduling, water volumes per hectare, according to Pearson’s correlation analysis was (r > 0.60, p < 0.05), obtaining a significant correlation in the irrigation commissions. Irrigation commissions of Ascope, Paiján, Magdalena de Cao and Yalpa, and Santiago de Cao had larger cultivated areas, consequently, more water consumption. The irrigation commission of La Pampa had smaller cultivated area, which resulted in lower water consumption. In addition, a negative relationship in the commission of irrigators of Sausal was found
