ORDINOLA RAMIREZ, Carla Maria et al. Use of medicinal plants for febrile syndrome by residents of the Pedro Castro Alva Human Settlement of the Chachapoyas district (Chachapoyas - Peru). Arnaldoa [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.3, pp.1033-1046. ISSN 1815-8242. http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.263.26312.
The aim of the present investigation was to determine which medicinal plants are used for the relief of fever in residents of the Pedro Castro Alva Human Settlement. The interviews were applied to 130 residents in charge of the household, taking into account inclusion criteria, that residents use medicinal plants to treat febrile syndrome and exclusion criteria, that residents do not want to participate. The results show that the plant most used by the residents of the Pedro Castro Alva Human Settlement for the relief of fever is the hierba santa (Cestrum auriculatum L`Hér.) with 36.92%, normally using the entire plant in the form of compresses. Likewise, 24.61% use the leaves of the matico (Piper aduncum L.) as an infusion. While 16.15% use the entire verbena plant (Verbena litoralis Kunth.) In the form of tincture, while 13.85% use mint leaves (Mentha piperita L.) in infusions and only 8.47% use the root of the valerian (Valeriana pilosa Ruiz & Pav.) in the form of infusion or compress, this being the least used plant for febrile syndrome. The plants used for the treatment of febrile syndrome, in the Pedro Castro Alva Human Settlement, are of great interest and study, and can be used as a valuable alternative in greeting places.
